The MERCY AIR MED program features the latest in helicopter ems technology including a brand new Bell 407 aircraft providing increased speed, Night Vision Goggles (NVG) for the entire crew and satellite communication technology. 


About Mercy Medical Center North Iowa 

Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa serves the communities in north Iowa and southern Minnesota and has evolved over the past 15 years from a core of two community hospitals into a regional hospital, Level II trauma center, multi-site provider system with general and specialized services addressing the needs of small and mid-sized communities and rural populations.  Additional Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa is part of Trinity Health headquarter in Novi, Michigan and is the 4th largest Catholic Health Care organization.  

Mercy – North Iowa’s Emergency Department meets an identified community need and is designated a Level II trauma center with current volumes range in the 30,000 to 32,000 patients annually and a percentage of them in need of helicopter transportation.  The new helicopter will have a fresh look showcasing Mercy’s brand colors and we will continue to provide both inter-hospital medical transports of critical patients as well as emergency, on-scene response for serious trauma incidents.  Mercy’s vision to provide patients with the best, personalized care with a focus on safety and quality in healing environment and to be, “trusted healthcare partner for life”.

This program's name is a "DBA" for Med-Trans Corporation (Med-Trans), an FAA Part 135 certificate holder and operator. Accordingly, all transportation by air that is done by this program is, in fact, done by Med-Trans. All aircraft and flights are under the operational control of Med-Trans, and all operations by this program are conducted under Med-Trans' operations specifications (OpSpecs). Med-Trans has the responsibility for ensuring this program's aircraft(s) are airworthy and are in compliance with its FAA-approved inspection/maintenance program. Med-Trans has specified the conditions under which flight may be operated. All flight crewmembers at this program that are assigned to a flight by Med-Trans are qualified, and have been trained under Med-Trans' approved training program.
